Belgian police have arrested two brothers suspected of planning a terror attack in the country.
Anti-terror police detained the two men after raiding homes in the French-speaking areas of Mons and Liege overnight.
They have been identified as Noureddine H., who is 33, and Hamza H., a spokesman for the federal prosecutors confirmed in a statement.
The statement said: ‘Based on provisional results from the investigation, it appears that there were plans to carry out an attack somewhere in Belgium.’
The brothers are set to appear before a judge on Saturday to determine whether they they should be held in custody beyond an initial 24 hours.
Police carried out seven property searches in Mons and one search in Liege.
