Biafra agitation has become a spiritual movement- MASSOB

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, at St Peter's Square Rome, during their visit to Pope Francis at theVatican.

The Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, yesterday, lashed out on the Federal Government and the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta who are currently engaged in a dialogue to end renewed bombing in the oil-rich Niger Delta, describing their condition to free detained Director, Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, as laughable.

MEND had in a statement weekend through its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, said that it proposed to the Federal Government, ”to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, on the condition that he renounces the agitation of Biafra Republic” as resolutions to end the revolts in the South East and South South geopolitical zones. But frowning at the resolutions from MEND, a leader of MASSOB, Uche Madu, in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Enugu, yesterday, insisted that the agitation for Biafra Republic was hinged on self determination which has become a spiritual movement that cannot be quenched by any force. Madu said: “The condition for Nnamdi Kanu’s release is a bluff by the Federal Government that knows nothing about genuine self determination.” This condition is not only laughable but inconsequential. MASSOB does not see Mazi Nnamdi kanu as one who can betray his belief on Biafra, He is not a sellout. His ideologies on Biafra may differ. “He can never betray hundreds of Biafrans that died recently on the course of Biafra. Biafra is not a religious faith that can be renounced or abandoned.”Nobody can renounce Biafra, it is an identity, culture, tradition and existence of group of nationalities. It’s not personal or individualistic. There are thousands of Biafranistic persons more determined, consistent, dangerous, focused, unshakable than Nnamdi Kanu.”
