Every time Canadian swimmer Santo Condorelli is about to race, he gives his dad the finger.
And his dad gives it back.
It’s a rather unusual ritual that the 21-year-old has been doing since he was eight years old.
According to his father, Joseph, it’s a confidence-builder.
‘You’ve got to build your confidence yourself and say “eff everybody else that you’re racing”,’ Santo, speaking to The Canadian Press, recalled his father saying.
‘He said “Every time you’re behind the blocks, give me the finger and I’ll give it back to you.”‘
